Jim Houston at The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer (GA) has a very good context story on the Wilson case. It’s good because it situates the case in relation to the state’s mandatory sentencing laws, specifically Georgia’s “seven deadly sin” laws and what it means for judge’s to lose judicial discretion in the face of legislative decision-making. You should read it.
